Let's Do This

My Dad Is The Best Dad

This is why:

  • He taught me how to break noses and fingers. Awesome, right?
  • He’s one of the “good guys”.
  • One of my earliest memories is watching him reading a newspaper. I can remember thinking “I want to know what that says!”, sparking my life-long love of reading.
  • He instilled in me a very clear sense of right and wrong.
  • He has the greatest sense of humour.
  • I credit his half of my genes for my height.
  • His advice is valuable without being preachy.
  • He is 100% supportive of me and my crazy dreams.
  • No matter how much of a fool I make of myself, or how down I might get, he will always be my dad. And that’s all I need to know.

Happy Father’s Day to the Best Dad.

For the laziest person in the world (me) this is a huge accomplishment

Today I have:

  • Folded towels that I washed yesterday.
  • Got back together with my ex-boyfriend.
  • Washed and reassembled all my bedclothes: two sheets, a duvet cover, and four pillow cases.
  • Hung up the remaining clean laundry.
  • Went for a walk. (A long one!)
  • Washed and put away two person’s worth of clothing.
  • Edited three short articles for a friend.
  • Unloaded and re-loaded the dishwasher.
  • Took out my trash.
  • Discovered how to use bullets on Tumblr.

Everyone applaud my mediocre achievements! Everyone!

My Mom Is The Best Mom

This is why:

  • She taught me how to be patient, to forgive, and that holding a grudge is useless.
  • She taught me how to be respectful and kind, so now other people actually like me.
  • She taught me how to have faith without belittling what others believe.
  • She taught me how to tie my shoes, and how to read.
  • When she saw any talent in me she made sure I pursued it and never let me just “give up” on it. This is why I can play the piano, and love to write.
  • She’s a total babe. (Even if genetics didn’t give me her boobs.)
  • When I had a terrible day her first response was “I’ll be right there”, even though she was a whole province away.
  • She respects me enough to let me make my own decisions, but knows when to offer advice.
  • She taught me that love isn’t optional.

And this isn’t even close to the whole list.

Happy Mother’s Day, to the Best Mom.

I would crawl over hot coals for a pair of these.
